Kemp Completes Large-Scale Solar Farm Survey in Leeds

Kemp Chartered Land and Engineering Surveyors is making its mark beyond the Southwest, having recently completed a full topographical and utility survey for a major solar farm project in Leeds. As a Southwest based company it’s always a pleasure to venture further afield and this project marked the furthest our team have travelled in a while.

The development of renewable energy infrastructure is critical in the UK’s transition to a greener future, and accurate surveying plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of such projects. Our team was tasked with providing a comprehensive site survey, capturing detailed data on the existing land features and underground utilities to support the design and planning of the solar farm.

Covering a vast area, the survey included high-precision topographical mapping with GPS, Total station and drone, utility detection using ground-penetrating radar (GPR), and CCTV drainage inspections. The information gathered will help engineers and developers understand the terrain. mitigate risks and optimise the layout of the solar panels for maximum efficiency.

While Kemp is well-established across Cornwall, Devon, and the wider Southwest, our reputation for excellence continues to open doors to exciting opportunities further afield. Travelling to Leeds for this project demonstrates our ability to take on large-scale infrastructure work nationwide, bringing our cutting-edge surveying techniques to projects across the country.

Scott Kemp, Director of Kemp Engineering and Surveying, commented:

“It’s a great achievement for the team to complete such a detailed survey on a large-scale renewable energy site. As the UK accelerates its commitment to green energy, we’re proud to play a role in the development of solar farms and other sustainable infrastructure.”

With the successful completion of this project, Kemp continues to reinforce its reputation as a trusted provider of surveying services across the southwest and beyond. From local infrastructure to nationwide renewable energy projects, we’re committed to delivering accurate, high-quality survey data that supports the future of construction and development.
